Temper Bookmark

Client: Temper Literary Review
Program: Adobe InDesign

I created this bookmark for Temper Literary Review. Editor Dan Simcock had mentioned in the past that the biggest thing Temper struggles with is a “lack of recognition in the UMD community.” I tried to think of something that he could hand out as a tactile reminder. A bookmark seemed to be an appropriate form, as it’s something that people can use. It also seemed fitting for the intended audience: people interested in literature and writing.

I knew the message would need to be something concise, and the image would need to be something that would resonate with the intended audience. I decided to use an image from a library due date card and the phrase “check us out!” Those in our intended audience would understand what the library due date card means, and it would invoke a feeling of nostalgia. Even if they never had direct experience with a library due date card, they would understand and appreciate its significance in literature. Using the established Temper logo that Dan created would help further promote the brand, so I chose to include that as well.
